15 julio 3 steps to help donate PCs to NGOs in India1. Identify a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) which has projects to support the needs of the society, where PC’s are required. They could be educational institutions (non-commercial), registered Charitable Hospitals, public libraries, public funded research and development establishments. The NGO must have a FCRA Registration ( The FCRA has been established to regulate the receipt of foreign contributions in India). Note that they should not be organizations of the Government of India, the State Governments and Union Territories.
2. Check whether they -
a. Can provide Certificate of Registration, Objectives and Mission, information on their Programs, Contact information
b. Have proof with respect to the institution being exempted from payment of income tax
c. Have current projects for which they need to deploy computers and know the required number of computers d. Can provide a Declaration stating that donated computers would be neither sold nor used for any commercial purposes, other than purpose mentioned above. e. Can bear the cost of moving the computers from the warehouse (Bangalore)
